Causes and Effects of Fast Food: Essay Example

Essay about fast food: introduction, causes of fast food: essay body paragraph, effects of fast food: essay body paragraph, fast food causes and effects: conclusion, reference list.

Food is an integral part of any culture and society around the globe. Until the last century, most people used to eat fresh, home-cooked food. Eating was a process that required specific preparations. However, now, we see that they prefer to eat fast food such as pizza, hamburgers, or fried chicken.

These fast-food restaurants have become common on our streets, and people of all ages visit them. The popularity of these restaurants has increased internationally. There are many reasons why fast food has become popular, and fast food also has some serious effects on humans and society.

The basic question is, what made fast food so popular this last century? One answer would be that the change in lifestyle compared to before is a cause for this. It pushes workers or people to eat fast food than cook food themselves.

For instance, two working parents are a good example of this. Due to their jobs, they do not have time to cook for their children or even themselves. As a consequence, they find it easier to order from these fast food restaurants rather than cook. That is why they favor fast food over their own cooked food.

Another cause of fast food usage is long working hours, which may also lead people to eat outside the home. There are many fast-food businesses in our cities. Some are McDonald’s, Burger King, Pizza Hut, etc. We can make a long list with hundreds of names from these restaurants.

During the last couple of years, we saw a lot of advertisements and promotions for those restaurants. Nevertheless, there still remains a question of why they spend to promote ineffective food. What are the reasons for this? The answer is that fast food is easy to cook. It does not take long to cook, and it is readily available. The shareholders of these businesses have their own goals, that of the profits they get from these restaurants.

Above, we have seen the causes that may have led to the flourishing of the fast-food industry. However, what is more important, is its effects on society and human beings. The primary effect that fast food has on human beings is that it can get your health in danger status. First, fast food can cause vitamin deficiencies that may, in turn, help to cause diseases.

Obesity is one of the consequences of fast food on the human body. Obesity comes because fast food is the factor that enriches the body with fats. So people will become less healthy, less effective, and less productive, and this is the conclusion of obesity (Adams, 2007, pp. 155).

Another serious effect of the popularity of fast food presences is the loss of the family tradition of eating together. The family used to eat together, and thus they had the opportunity to talk with each other about daily problems.

Fast food also affects the income of the family. The conclusion is that fast food is more expensive than the food you cook for yourself.

In conclusion, it can be said that fast food has been born out of the modern way of living in our societies. Unfortunately, its effects on the human body and health are unfavorable. It also has other adverse effects on the income of a family. It would be best to avoid eating fast foods as much as possible.

English Essay on “Fast Food” Essay-Paragraph-Speech for Class 8, 9, 10, 11 and 12 CBSE Students and competitive Examination.

Hamburgers are a reasonably recent creation; they were only become mainstream in the early twentieth century. In 1916, the first hamburger chain was created by J. Walter Anderson. At his Witchita, Kansas, USA store he sold hamburgers for five cents which also came with fries and colas. White castle was a thriving business, but it and other fast food chains did not become really popular until after World War H. In 1948 on a tennis court in San Berdino, California, two brothers by the names of Richard and Maurice chalked out the design for a new kind of fast food place from their point of view. Ideas that would help to decide exactly what went into their operation might have been making their business as efficient as possible, and they did this by reducing expenses which would in turn allow them to sell their hamburgers at a much lower price than their competitors. These ideas were supposed to have not only help with lowering prices, but the idea behind the lowering of the prices was to increase the number of customers, which would in turn allow them to have a higher profit margin by selling in high volumes. This combined with another marketing strategy of only selling a few items were very vital keys to their success.

Essay on “Popularity Of Fast Foods” for Students and Children, Best Essay, Paragraph, Speech for Class 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, and 12 in English Language.

Popularity Of Fast Foods

Fast food is defined as the food that is easy to prepare, has a low quality in preparation and can usually be served to the customer in a prepackaged form. Fast food is designed to be eaten on the go without the formality of cutlery and is generally eaten as finger foods. In India, the fast food craze is rising amongst youngsters every day. People now consume more roadside junk and snacks than they did before, not considering the health factors or the quality of ingredients that are used in preparing them. Rather than eating homemade food, working people and school children prefer eating fast foods, which are tasty and pocket-friendly at the same time. The most popular foods are kebabs, rolls, fries, Pizzas, bhelpuri, chaat, panipuri or phuchkas, samosas, dosas, dahivada.s, dhokla, and many others.

The fast food craze is slowly making people forger the taste and health benefits of home cooked food. People working in tight shifts and late hours have little or no time to cook meals. They are regular consumers of McDonald’s, Burger King or Pizza Hut. Thousands of fast food chains have cropped up in the recent years. Apart from these chains, there have been the regular road and beach side eateries which have been serving fast food for years. The quality of food in these places is questionable, but people pay more attention to the taste than the quality. Cities like Mumbai are becoming famous worldwide for their fast food stalls, especially by the famous beaches.

Popularity of junk food, is seeing an increase in a lot of serious ailments like Cancer, Ulcers, Hepatitis, Skin diseases, Stomach disorders and so on. Though people are aware about these health threats through newspapers, magazines and television, it makes little or no difference in the consumption of fast food. If proper awareness is not created, and steps taken, India will join ranks with the rest of the countries struggling with obesity and other health problems as a result of this fast food culture.

In order to perform well in life, our body needs energy. We get this energy from the food we eat. Without food, there will be no life. In today’s world, there are so many dishes available worldwide. Food comes in a wide variety all around the world. Dosa, Paneer, Naan, Chapati, Biryani, and more Indian delicacies are available. We are also offered western cuisines such as noodles, pasta, burgers, fries, pizzas and more dominating the food industry. In my favourite food essay, I will tell you about the food I like eating the most.

my favorite food essay

My Favorite Food

As the world is advancing day by day, it is becoming easier to get access to many kinds of food at our doorstep. Every day, we all want to consume great and delicious cuisine. There are many different varieties of food accessible all throughout the world. We all like different foods, however, my personal favourite is burgers. I have eaten many cuisines but my favourite food is definitely a burger. I cannot resist myself when it comes to burgers.

Burgers are one of the most convenient and easiest foods to eat on the fly when we’re in a hurry. We can have a burger at any time of day, whether it’s breakfast, lunch, or supper, and maybe some fries and a Coke to go with it. Many restaurants are well-known for making their speciality burgers in a particular style. Preparation changes from one establishment to the next. But what exactly makes a burger taste so good? They will taste vary depending on where you go, but they are all built the same. It is made up of a bun, a ground meat patty, and various toppings like cheese, onion slices, lettuce, and other sauces.

They are so soft yet crunchy, fresh and juicy that I love eating them. Even though there are many kinds of burgers, my favourite one is a chicken burger. The chicken patty gives the burger a juicy taste and it tingles my taste buds every time I eat it. I can already smell and taste it in my mouth as soon as I walked inside McDonald’s or any other restaurant that serves chicken burgers. As soon as I take a huge mouthful of it, I forget about any problems or troubles that are going on in the outer world and concentrate my entire concentration just on my chicken burger.

I love eating a burger which is filled with cheese and vegetables . The more vegetables you add, the better it tastes. My personal favourite is lettuce. It gives the burger the right amount of freshness and crunchiness.

I always eat my burger with ketchup. Most importantly, the thing I love about eating burgers is that I get to eat French fries along with them. They work as a great side to the dish and also make my stomach full.

Even though I liked eating a burger from a famous fast food joint, nothing beats the chicken burger my mother makes at home. She prepares everything from scratch, even the burger. Thus, it is extremely fresh and healthy too.

I know and feel that burgers have the great flavour and taste that would make anyone’s stomach pleased after a long day of work. I can tell by the reactions on people’s faces when they order their preferred burger variant. Overall, I don’t believe any other fast food will taste as good as a chicken burger. It’s just difficult to think that something will triumph in the future. As a result, I consider my favourite dish to be the best ever created.

A Great Variety

Perhaps the great thing about burgers is the great variety they offer. It has options for all people, who prefer vegetarian, non-vegetarian and even vegans. Thus, you can select the patty of your burger and dive right in.

There are a large number of burger joints being started in every corner of the city, each serving a variety of their own specialised and self-curated recipes. Burgers that are health-friendly and a go-to with a diet are also being introduced by these newly upcoming burger places. There are a lot many burger cafes that give their customers the choice to create their own burgers by providing them with a choice between patties, fillings, veggies, sauces as well as the number of burger layers they want.

Even though my personal favourite is a chicken burger, I also enjoy eating cheeseburgers and vegetable burgers. For me, all burgers taste delicious. Whenever we go out to eat with friends , I always order a burger.

My friends who do not eat non-vegetarian also eat burgers thanks to the great variety it offers. When we order food at home, we make sure to offer all kinds of burgers from cheeseburgers to chicken burgers, so that we get a taste of everything in our meal. Thus, I love burgers and their great variety makes it better.

Conclusion of My Favorite Food Essay

Even though my favourite food is a burger, I enjoy other foods as well like Pizza and Pasta. However, I feel when it comes to eating daily, nothing beats homemade food. The food we eat daily is what helps us gain energy. We cannot eat our favourite food daily as it will become boring then, but our staple food is something we enjoy eating on an everyday basis.

Question 2: Should you eat your favourite food all the time?

Answer 2: No, never. Favourite foods are meant to be enjoyed when there is any special occasion, or when you are tired of your regular homemade food. Essay, Paragraph or Speech on “Fast Food – A Disastrous Lifestyle” Complete Essay, Speech for Class 10, Class 12 and Graduation and other classes.

Fast Food – A Disastrous Lifestyle

We live in a fast world…and have no time …not even to fulfill our basic need …Food. This is where fast food steps in. Fast food is any food that is quick, convenient, and usually inexpensive and typically refers to food sold in a restaurant and /or served to the customer in a packaged form for take away. It’s cheap, convenient and often indulgently delicious. These foods are often sky-high in calories, saturated fat and sodium that can make us fatter, clog our arteries and send our blood pressure soaring.

Not only does it feed and fill us quickly there are scientific indications that it could end up killing us just as fast.

Although fast-food restaurants are often viewed as a representation of modem technology, the concept of “ready-cooked food to go” is as old as cities themselves; unique variations are historical in various cultures. Ancient Romans had bread-and-olive stands; East Asian cultures feature noodles shops. Flat-bread and falafel are ubiquitous in the Middle East. Popular Indian fast food delicacies include samosa, vada-pav, bhelpuri, papri chat and panipuri. In modem times, fast food has acquired a new face. Shops lined with colourful pictures of burgers, pizzas, fries, hotdogs and the likes pull one and all.

One of the largest influences on children, teenagers and even adults is the eating of cookies, candy, chocolate, soft drinks, snack cakes, potato chips and so on. The marketing of these products has created a nutrition nightmare, It can’t be any coincidence that ever since the popularity of fast food chains like Burger King, McDonalds and Wendy’s gained that the average teenager is 9 to 18 kg heavier than they were 40 years ago. Obesity, today, has assumed epidemic proportions in the world. It’s an epidemic that has grown side by side with the fast food industry.

Various reasons can be attributed to the growth of this menace. If advertising has been vigorous, it is also because an average family was ready to fall prey to it. With both parents working, there has been lesser time to cook and sit down to a home meal. It makes sense to graba quick bite outside and save time. Children, teenagers and professionals too find it hard to resist the temptation or fad that the marketing of these products has created.

Yet we need to wake up to the damage already caused. Forty years of fast food eating has finally caught up with us. The hypertension, sugar related problems, heart disease, high cholesterol and obesity related problems have taken a toll on the health of mankind … we have to find a way out and there is every reason believe that there is a way out. Advertisements will never go away from television but if we make it “once in-a-while treat” instead of something regular, maybe that would help. If we would just take time to be more aware of what eat and work at improving o eating habits. It will make a difference in the long run. We also have a responsibility to take care of our bodies through exercise, getting proper rest and making sure we have the right nutrients into our system daily.

To put the picture in the correct perspective; there is no such thing as a “bad” food. All foods can fit into a healthy meal plan. Even eating fast food once in a while is not going to cause problems. It is in our hands to choose a healthier fast food which keeps our taste buds tingling, and our heart ticking.
