Narrative Essay: I Love My Parents

Parents are the closest people that we have in our lives, whether we realize it or not. They love us not because we are smart, beautiful, successful or we have a good sense of humour, but just because we are their children. I, too, love mom and dad simply because they are my parents, but I think I would have felt the same even if they weren’t. I love who they are as people, each with their own individual traits – and, together, forming an amazing super-team that’s made me who I am today and taught me what life is all about.

My mother is a cheerful, chatty perfectionist who seems to always find something to get excited about and who can talk for hours about animals and flowers. She is never afraid to speak her mind and she can be very convincing when she wants to. She sometimes get upset a bit too easily, but she is just as quick to forgive and forget. I love mom for all that she is – even when she’s angry – for all that she has done for me, and for all that she’s taught me. My mom has been through a lot throughout the years, but she always kept fighting. She taught me to never lose hope even in the direst of moments, and she showed me how to look for happiness in the small things. She’s been trying to teach me to be more organized as well, but hasn’t succeeded yet. I love her for that too.

My father is quiet, patient and calm, and he has an adorable hit-and-miss sense of humour. I may not always find his jokes that funny, but I love him for trying. Dad almost never gets angry and he is always polite, friendly and nice to everyone. He is not the one to verbalize emotions, but he always shows his feelings through sweet gestures and little surprizes. He is the pacifist in our family and never goes against mom’s wishes, but he runs a large company witha firm hand. I love my father for all these characteristics and for all he’s sacrificed to build a better life for us. He’s worked day and night to ensure we afford good education and have a rich, wonderful childhood, and he has passed up many great opportunities for the benefit of our family. I love dad because he’s taught me that you cannot have it all in life, but with hard work and dedication, you can have what matters most to you.

Mom and dad may be very different people, but they complement each other perfectly. Together, they formed a super-team that was always there – and, thankfully, still is – to provide comfort, nurturing, and support and help me grow as a person. Their complementary personalities bring balance in our family, and each of them steps in whenever they are needed the most. Together, they taught me to believe in myself and have turned me into a fighter. Their care and dedication towards me and each other has served as an example of what healthy relationships should be like, and I love and admire them for that.

I love my parents because they are my parents, my good friends, my heroes, my role models, my safe haven, my pillars of strength.I am who I am today thanks to them, and I know that their support and affection will play an essential role in what I will become in the future. All I can hope is that, when I have children of my own, I will be half as good a parent as they were to me.

If you find that you are struggling with a certain parenting style, try to change it gradually over time. Don’t try to force things in the opposite direction; that will only create chaos and conflict. Just take small steps in the new direction, and eventually you will find yourself on the right track.

Above all else, remember that parenting is a partnership between you and your child. You should always put your child’s best interests first, and try to be as understanding as possible when they make mistakes or need help behaving correctly. How To Write An Essay On ‘My Parents’ for Classes 1, 2 and 3

Shaili Contractor

Key Points to Remember When Writing an Essay on ‘My Parents’ for Classes 1, 2 and 3

10-line essay on ‘my parents’, short essay on ‘my parents’, long paragraph on ‘my parents’ for kids, what your 1st, 2nd or 3rd grader will learn from the essay.

Parents are the backbone of every child. Children learn most things from their parents because parents are every child’s first teachers. Kids connect with their parents in various ways. They observe them and don’t shy away from imitating them because their parents are their role models. So, when it comes to penning down their thoughts and feelings on their parents, most children take to it instantly because it is a topic they can relate to and enjoy writing about. This is why an essay on ‘My Parents’ is commonly assigned to children in classes 1,2 & 3. But, some kids may struggle to express themselves while writing the composition. If your child is one of them, here are some ways they can unleash their inner author and get their creative juices flowing on paper.

The first step to help children write creatively is to get them to share their ideas on the topic and build them organically. They may also read to be able to write better, but their observation of their parents would help them make the essay unique. Below are some more key points to remember:

  • When you want to write a paragraph about your parents, you need to vocalise your personal feelings for them.
  • It is important to describe your parents as individuals, their influence and their attributes which are the driving forces.
  • Create a mental outline about how you want the essay to flow.
  • Start with an introduction, describe your parents, detail their roles, and elaborate on their influence.
  • While describing, it is important to mention what the parents do.
  • Make sure to write about how they manage their personal and professional lives.
  • Ensure to highlight any points about their strengths and how they motivate you.
  • Speak about the important events and occasions that you spend with your parents.
  • Mention any key secret that keeps you and your family happy.
  • Write a strong conclusion about how children learn from parents and must be there for them.

Children in classes 1 and 2 would have just begun their journey into the basics of creative writing. More than writing an essay or a paragraph, they will be asked to express points on the topic. Read on for some tips to help them get started:

  • My father and mother are the best parents.
  • My father is a banker, and my mother is a teacher.
  • My parents work very hard for the family and take care of us.
  • They look after the house and make sure they keep it neat and clean.
  • They share the responsibility to help me with my studies.
  • My parents are active, and they ride the bike, play football, and board games with me.
  • My parents love to cook. They help each other every day and cook delicious and healthy meals.
  • My parents and I love celebrating festivals, and we decorate the whole house together.
  • My parents take me out to parks, restaurants, and cinemas.
  • I love my parents as they do so much for me and look after me.

Children in grades 2 and 3 can be a bit more expressive than first graders. Here’s an example of a short essay on the topic for you:

Parents are our best friends. We owe everything to our parents as they are the ones who bring us into the world. Like everyone, my parents are the most important people in my life. They make my life so simple and easy. I learn a lot from them, and they inspire me. My father is an engineer. He works for a large company. My mother is a banker. Both my parents rise early to ensure that my sister and I get to school on time. My father helps us get ready for school, and my mother starts cooking our breakfast and packing our lunch boxes. After they come home, my parents start preparing for the evening. They alternate the job of cooking and helping my sister and me with our studies. Once we finish dinner, we sit together as a family and watch TV. We make sure that we spend time together as a family every day, and over the weekends, we go out together to the park or the restaurant. My parents also make sure that we celebrate festivals and special occasions together. My parents work hard to have a good life, and they are my guiding force.

By class 3, children have a better understanding of the topic. They can also elaborate better and have a constructive template for their write-ups. They should ideally be able to write an introduction, main body and conclusion. Here’s a sample for you:

A gift, a blessing, or a miracle – parents can be anything you want them to be. Parents sacrifice their entire life for their children to ensure that we get the best opportunities to lead good lives. They inspire us to be responsible, caring, loving, and respectful.

My parents are very special to me. My father is a professor in a college and did not have an easy childhood. He had to face many difficulties and managed to complete his education to become a professor. He loves his work and strives hard to make a living and make our lives comfortable. He also takes tuitions for poor children for a small fee to help them achieve their dreams. He takes my lessons every day and also enjoys playing games with me. He teaches me how to play cricket as he is a fan of the sport himself.

My mother is a housewife but takes tuition for children every evening. She gave up her career to look after me and started tutoring children at home. She decided to become a tutor to help my father with his expenses and save for my future. She spends her entire day looking after the house and doing household chores. Every evening, when my father and I return, she has a host of dishes prepared for us to eat. My parents make sure that we spend some time together as a family before going to bed. We either read the newspaper or a book before going to bed. We also spend some leisure time going out to the park, restaurant or cinemas over the weekends. My parents do everything to make my life comfortable and help me do my best at home and school.

It is a blessing to have parents as we learn a lot from them. They teach us qualities like sacrifice, love, affection, and respect, which help us become responsible members of society. It is important to listen to parents as they will always speak for our good. I feel lucky to have my parents by my side, who teach me to become a better version of myself every day.

A composition on ‘My Parents’ is the best way to let a child’s imagination flow and their ideas transform into words. Children are very expressive in their speech, but it isn’t easy to write everything down. With some guidance, writing an essay or a few lines on this topic will help them channel their thoughts and feelings and improve their observation skills. Writing also gives kids a confidence boost, consolidates their literacy skills, and applies their reading skills in practice.

Most writers polish their writing skills by drafting essays. The examples given above would give your child the much-needed jumpstart to explore the world of writing. With these tips, your child can learn to develop ideas, plan their essays, write exciting details and make the final edits to write a brilliant essay.

Essay on my parents

Essay on my parents. We present this article because of the importance of the role of father and mother in the life of every living creature on earth. And when the students are asked to write a short essay on parents, or a long essay on parents, the student must know what to write and how to start the essay.

That is why we will present in the following essay o my parents, in which we talk about the importance of the presence of parents in our lives.

We will  mention in detail the role that the mother and father play in the lives of their children. At the end of the 500-word essay on parents, we will teach children about their duty to their parents.

  • Essay on my parents

In order to write an article titled with an essay on my  parents, you must know the virtue of parents over their children.

There are a large number of people who do not know or appreciate the importance of parents in the lives of their children. There are even some people who deal with the father and mother very harshly.

So we see someone who takes his parents and puts them in a home for the elderly, for the purpose of getting rid of their burdens or for the purpose of living in their home, he and his wife and children.

There are those who quarrel with the parents, insult and beat them harshly, and sometimes expel them on the street without mercy.

What is the role of parents in our lives?

Parents are the father and the mother, and we may have one and lose the other. There are several reasons for losing a parent, including death and separation through divorce. But most often the child lives in a house with a father and mother.

This happens with all living things and not only in the human world. As we see around us, every living creature has two parents, who feed and take care of it, until it reaches an appropriate age and can be self-reliant.

But what is the importance of parents in the life of a young child?. When a small child is born, he is a weak creature, unable to walk and unable to defend himself. The child wants to eat and clean his body and clothes. He is completely incapable of doing anything in life. That is why there must be someone close to the child who takes care of him and protects him. No one is closer to the child than the father and the mother. The father protects the child and brings the food. And the mother cleans it and takes care of him until the father reaches home.

What is the fate of a child without parents?

Without parents, the child’s chances of survival may be zero, as he is exposed to many risks. One of the most important of these dangers is that it is attacked by a predator to feed on it, as it is weak and lonely and does not know how to defend itself.

This is what happens in the world of humans and in the world of animals and birds. This child must have an adult with him at an appropriate period of his life so that he can live in peace and learn skills that will make him independent later on.

What is the role of a father in the lives of his children?

The father has a great role and this applies to all living things. Because the father is distinguished by a strong body, he is able to defend his children against any external dangers.

The father must go out every day, whether he is human or other creatures, in order to bring food to the young. The father can work or search for food with ease.

As for the father who abandons his duties towards his children, they suffer from fear and from being attacked by the predators who lie in wait for them.

What is the role of the mother in our lives?

The mother of all creatures is the affectionate person who supports the child emotionally and provides the appropriate food for him, so that he grows up healthy and happy.

She is the one who watches over the child in order to meet his needs and provide him with comfort and entertainment when he is sick.

The mother is known for sacrifice and loyalty to her children, as she defends them in front of those who want to obtain them. She would sacrifice her life if one of her children attacked and tried to kill them. Sometimes the mother plays the role of the father when he dies or leaves the house.

When are parents a burden to children?

Sometimes a man or a woman decides to have children, but they are not qualified for this great responsibility. For example, if the father is one who does not bear responsibility, or someone who is addicted to drugs or alcohol.

A mother may be a selfish woman who loves to move from one relationship to another, and does not think about sacrificing for the sake of her children. There are several other reasons, including psychological and mental illnesses, which make parents a burden on children.

In this case, the competent authorities must intervene and keep the children away from these parents before they destroy the children.

What is our duty towards parents?

Our duty towards parents is to remember and know all the sacrifices they have made for us, and to know what it means to have a father and a mother in the lives of their children. That is why we must return to them all that they have given us in the past years of our lives.

When the father and mother become elderly persons, they become like children again. They suffer from osteoporosis and diseases that impede their movement. And suffer from Alzheimer’s, tension and nervousness. As they endured us in our childhood, we must bear them in their old age.

At the end of our article titled with an Essay on my parents, we can say that having a father and mother is a great blessing that many people do not realize. And whoever loses his father or mother in his childhood is the only person who appreciates the importance of their presence. And that we should take care of them as they cared for us in our childhood. We must keep the relationship between us and them in good shape.

As for the one who lost his father or mother, we must feel his loneliness and sadness and help him not to feel sad again.

An Essay on My Parents [PDF]

Parents are the first teacher of our life, they taught us several survival plans so that we can take care of everything, they are precious gems. Today this essay paper topic is on “My Parents”, so let’s dive into the essay!

an Essay on My Parents feature image

Two people that I look up to and respect a lot are my parents. I have never seen anyone as hardworking and good-hearted as my parents. Since my childhood, my parents have always provided me with every single thing that I’ve ever needed and there has never been a shortage of facilities or materials at our home.

Both of my parents had to struggle a lot growing up. My father was the son of an accountant and my grandfather took every step he could to provide my father with the best education possible and he always encouraged my father to pursue his interests and hobbies in life.

Similarly, my mother was supported to pursue a career and attend college at least before marriage. Although my parents got engaged and married quite early in their life, they supported each other’s interests and did their post-graduation after their marriage.

As a child, my parents never tried to stop me from trying new things. They always supported me and sent me to learn various art forms and dance classes growing up.

Due to their persistence and support, I am now a part of my school dance team and my skills as a painter are used whenever we have to decorate the school for any fest or event.

My father is a chemical engineer and he works as his department supervisor. He always helps me whenever I get stuck while solving my maths homework and helps me understand the concepts more clearly. My mother is a singer and she is also a music teacher at my school.

She teaches from classes three to eight. My mother always helps me whenever I have a doubt in my chemistry or biology studies as my mother loves science and studied with psychology as her major in university.

While my father grew up in a family with eight siblings, five brothers, and three sisters, my mother was the only child in the household. So when she got married to my father and started living at the house, she found few siblings of her own.

She particularly bonded with my aunt in-laws and my grandfather from my father’s side. My grandfather had always my mother’s melodious voice and her amazing range of music that she could sing. She also knows how to play various instruments now, such as the guitar, the piano, synthesizer, and even the drums.

Meanwhile, my father does not sing at all, but he knows how to play the tabla and together, they make the perfect musical pair. Despite all the musical talents present in my family, I unfortunately neither have a melodious voice to sing with, nor the talent of playing any instrument. On the complete opposite side of the spectrum, I love to dance. And despite our various differences, my parents always encourage me to do both, dance and sing.

I cannot imagine ever living without my parents. They make me feel the happiest. While my mother scolds me a lot and even punishes me occasionally, my father never shouts at me. He always tries to talk with patients and make me understand what I did wrong and I should not repeat my actions again.

He makes me stop crying whenever my mother scolds me and makes me understand why she was scolding me with a proper explanation. But there is only one instance when my father does not behave leniently. He does not tolerate the wastage of food.

So whenever I fuss about any particular dish or try to avoid eating any particular vegetable because I don’t like how it tastes, he becomes strict and makes sure that I eat all of my food. He says that every piece of food that we eat should be treated with respect and that we should try to avoid being picky eaters.

My father has been a great teacher for me growing up. With his help, I have learned how to ride bicycles, how to play football, how to plant a garden and take care of flowers in the summer. He has also taught me how to cut onions without crying and how to make a simple dish known as egg omelet.

Both my parents inspire me a lot and I strive very hard every day just so I can make them feel proud about their child someday.

Parents are our first teachers. They teach us to speak, to walk, to eat and to learn. They help us distinguish between the good and bad.

I am very close to my parents. They love me so much. They try to give me whatever I ask for. When I get good grades and appreciation, they feel proud. My parents help me with my studies and take care of all the things that I need to study and play. They cook the tastiest food for me. They play with me and take me to fairs. My parents buy me gifts and new clothes on birthdays and other occasions.

Why I take at least 1 night off parenting every week

We mark the days on the calendar, treating them like essential, non-negotiable appointments.

When was the last time you took a weeknight off from parenting? Not a date night, not running errands , but a night purely for yourself.

If you’re like most parents, the answer is probably “before my kids were born.”

That was my answer, too. For years, I believed that spending every evening with my children was just what parents did. But the reality of balancing my career with the demands of parenting two toddlers just a year apart in age pushed me to the edge.

At some point last year, I found myself perpetually exhausted, and, yes, admittedly snapping every so often at my kids and husband. I was running on fumes and reached a point where I needed a break — or else I’d break.

That’s when my husband and I decided to try an experiment that on the outset seemed simple, but that we soon learned would be life-changing and life-giving: We would each get one or two nights “off” per week.

Initially, I had a hard time sticking to it. It felt too easy to default to our old ways, and I felt guilty for leaving my kids and for saddling my husband with their care. The idea of stepping away, even for a night, felt selfish. But as an introvert desperate for solitude and time to recharge, I realized that without some time off, I wouldn’t be able to give my family the best version of myself (or — if I’m being honest — even a semi-human version).

So, my husband and I made a pact: Every week, we’d both have a night off to do whatever nourished our souls — no questions, no guilt. We marked these days on the calendar, treating them like essential, non-negotiable appointments.

Having a designated night off has felt like fresh air after years of holding my breath.

Once we did that, the impact was immediate and profound. Having a designated night off has felt like fresh air after years of holding my breath. Some nights, I’ve taken a solo hike or enjoyed a quiet dinner alone; other times, I let myself roam without a plan, savoring the rare and delicious freedom of unstructured time.

Gesche Haas

It wasn’t long before I noticed a transformation in my parenting, too. I’ve become happier, more patient and joyfully present with my children. The time away isn’t just a luxury — it is a lifeline. Taking a break and having time to recharge is a necessity for my well-being, and thus for theirs.

When I started sharing our new routine with other parents, I noticed that many of them found the idea highly unusual and hadn’t ever considered taking this kind of time for themselves. (Before I tried it, I had never imagined it either!) And, living in a culture that glorifies self-sacrifice, especially for mothers, that makes sense.

However, a few shared that they’ve taken similar “breaks” from parenting. Kelly Hubbell, founder of Sage Haus, an outsourcing platform for busy parents, has carved out a similar routine with her husband. He swims with friends on his nights off; she enjoys yoga or a moms’ night out on hers.

“It’s a necessary break to be more patient, kind and fully present, both with each other and our children,” she tells TODAY.com. “This rhythm has become essential for maintaining our sanity and nurturing our relationship.”

While having a partner certainly makes the approach a bit easier, fractional CEO and sales consultant Dora Rankin has always prioritized her own well-being, even as a single mom to two daughters.

“When the mothership goes down, everything goes down,” she tells TODAY.com. By taking regular weekends away with friends, she shows up as a stronger and more present mother. “My girls showed up just as strong, independent and self-sufficient too,” she adds.

Taking time off from parenting might seem counterintuitive, but it’s by far one of the best decisions we’ve made for our family. These breaks recharge us, enabling us to be more present, loving and fulfilled. As a result, every moment we spend with our kids feels richer and more meaningful.

It has also taught us a vital lesson: There are no strict “rules” to parenting. The more we give ourselves permission to break away from societal expectations and focus on what truly replenishes us, the higher the chances are that we can lead a life that feels truly aligned, even during these intense years when we’re dedicating so much of ourselves to our children. It’s easy to fall into default patterns — or frankly have so much on our plates we don’t come up for air to consider that there might be another way — but I’m living proof that this approach is a fast track to burnout. Thankfully, by stepping away from what we’re “supposed” to do, we’ve created a happier, healthier home for everyone.

For anyone feeling overwhelmed or burnt out, I encourage you to consider your own version of a night off. I know it’s easier said than done, and that even considering a night off requires a certain amount of privilege, but I also know how important it is to see alternative versions of what life could look like. Whether it’s scheduling solo time, hiring a babysitter or setting up a system with a partner, co-parent or friend, the key is to identify what you need on an ongoing basis, and not only give yourself permission to do so but to make it a priority.

Your needs can’t always come last, because it’s only when we’ve taken care of ourselves that we can take care of others. In that sense, it’s the most selfless thing we can do for our families.
